Biography

Alessandra holds a Masters in Food Science and Technology and a PhD in Agro-food and Environmental Science, both from the University of Milan. She is a Research Associate in the Centre for Sustainable Use of Energy in Food Chains (CSEF), which is part of the SIS group. Her research interests include life cycle environmental evaluation of food technologies and products, energy use in food processing and nutritional quality of food. In 2013-2014 she visited the SIS group as a PhD student.

Strategies to increase the sustainability of the agro-food sector

The main aim of this project is to apply the LCA methodology to alternative technical solutions for the agro-food and agro-energy sector, in order to identify the most sustainable options. This objective is being pursued both through specific case studies in collaboration with small/medium Italian agro-food companies and through literature research.
