Project Duration: January 2013 - January 2016.
The main objective of this work is to identify more sustainable water treatment options for removal of PPCPs in Europe. After identifying typical concentration PPCP ranges in waste waters in Europe, a range of technologies will be considered, including UV treatment, ozonisation and filtration by activated carbon. Disposal options for the waste remaining after the treatment will also be considered, including pyrolysis, incineration and landfilling.
