Project Leader: Professor Adisa Azapagic
Project Duration: September 2025 - September 2029.
Methanol is a crucial product in the chemical industry and is also increasingly recognised as a promising alternative fuel for the future. However, its production currently relies predominantly on fossil fuels, causing significant concerns about climate change and environmental pollution. This project will consider different renewable methanol production methods within each region in China to assess their sustainability using life cycle assessment and life cycle costing. The results will provide a national assessment and offer practical recommendations for industries and policy makers, identifying the most suitable production methods for each region to ensure advancement towards carbon neutrality and sustainable development.
The primary contact for this project is Mr Zhicong Fang.
